Custom Software Development
Custom software, built around how you work.
Tailored digital platforms, internal systems, and applications built around your business requirements.
What is custom software development?
Custom software development is the design and engineering of applications made for one company’s processes, data and customers, instead of bending the business to fit an off-the-shelf product. Eight Visions builds internal platforms, customer-facing applications and operational tools for companies worldwide, from the first workshop to production and long-term support.
When custom software makes sense
- Critical work runs in spreadsheets, email threads and copy-paste between tools.
- Off-the-shelf products cover the standard part of your process, but not the part that makes you different.
- You pay for several subscriptions that still don’t share data with each other.
- Customers or partners need a portal, app or self-service flow that doesn’t exist yet.
- A process depends on one person who knows how everything fits together.
Example system
An operations platform for a logistics company.
One system for orders, shipments, exceptions and invoicing, connected to the ERP and TMS the company already runs, with a mobile app for drivers. An illustrative example; yours is designed around your processes.
- 1
Role-based modules
Dispatch, finance and management each see the tools they need.
- 2
Live numbers
KPIs calculated from ERP and TMS data in real time, not exports.
- 3
Exceptions first
Missing documents and delays surface before customers notice.
- 4
One source of truth
Customers see the same orders and statuses in their own portal.
- 5
Driver app
Routes, proof of delivery and signatures, synced instantly.
What we build.
- 01
Internal platforms & back-office systems
Operations hubs, approval flows, admin panels and role-based tools that replace scattered spreadsheets with one source of truth.
- 02
Customer & partner portals
Self-service ordering, booking, account and document portals for B2B and B2C customers, connected to your back office.
- 03
Web & mobile applications
One codebase for iOS, Android and the web, with payments, maps, push notifications and real-time data.
- 04
ERP & CRM extensions
Custom modules that extend the systems you already pay for, instead of replacing them.
- 05
Dashboards & reporting
Live operational dashboards on your own data, so decisions don’t wait for someone to export a CSV.
- 06
Payments & transactional systems
Card, Apple Pay and Google Pay payments, tokenised cards and settlement logic, built on certified payment providers.
How we build
Scope before code
A short discovery phase maps users, data and edge cases, so the estimate reflects reality, not optimism.
Usable early
We ship a working first release early and grow it in planned iterations, so you see value and give feedback from week one.
Built to be maintained
Typed code, automated checks, documentation and clear architecture, so any competent team could take it over.
Yours to keep
Your code lives in your repositories and your cloud accounts. No lock-in to us.
Cost & timeline
What it costs, and why.
There is no minimum project size. Each project is priced on its scope, complexity, integrations and the level of customisation it needs, and you get a written proposal with scope, timeline and price before committing to anything.
What determines the cost
- ·Number of user roles, screens and workflows
- ·Integrations with existing systems and data migration
- ·Platforms required: web, iOS, Android
- ·Security, compliance and audit requirements
- ·Payments, real-time features or hardware connectivity
- ·Support and hosting expectations after launch
Typical timeline
A focused internal tool or first product release typically takes 6–12 weeks. Larger platforms are delivered in phases: a usable core first, further modules on an agreed roadmap.
Technology we typically use
- TypeScript
- React & Next.js
- React Native (iOS, Android)
- Node.js
- PostgreSQL
- Supabase
- Redis
- REST, GraphQL & webhooks
- Vercel & cloud infrastructure

Custom Software Development
Questions, answered.
Is custom software better than an off-the-shelf product?
Not always. If a standard product covers your process well, we’ll say so. Custom software pays off when your process is a competitive advantage, when several tools need to work as one, or when no product fits without expensive workarounds. Often the best answer is a mix: keep your ERP or CRM and build only the missing part around it.
How much does custom software development cost?
It depends on what the software needs to do: users and workflows, integrations, platforms and the level of customisation. There is no minimum budget. Many clients start with a focused first release and extend it once it proves its value. You receive a written proposal with scope, timeline and price before you commit.
Do you build mobile apps as well as web applications?
Yes. We build iOS and Android apps from a shared React Native codebase alongside web applications, so features, pricing logic and data stay consistent across every platform.
Who owns the code?
You do. On completion and payment, the source code and the intellectual property created for your project belong to you, in repositories and cloud accounts you control.
Let’s scope your project.
